GERMAN PAUL TILLICH SOCIETY e.V. (GPTS)

 

The society goes back to an initially loose union of Paul Tillich's friends (founded in 1956), which in 1960 legally organized "Circle of Paul Tillich's Friends e.V.". In 1969, the "circle" was renamed "Paul Tillich Society e.V.", and in 1980, - after Tillich companies had been established in North America and in the French-speaking world as well - in "German Paul Tillich Society e.V."

 


PURPOSE

 

The primary purpose of the society is to disseminate and critically review the theological and philosophical thought of Paul Tillich. For this purpose, multi-day scientific conferences are held at regular intervals. In addition, regional seminars and lectures take place. Another concern of the society is to promote further publications of Paul Tillich's work.

 


MEMBERSHIP

 

Any natural person (over 18 years) or any legal entity may become member of the society. Membership must be requested for with the Executive Board. The annual fee for natural persons currently is Euro 25, - for students and Euro 10, - for pupils. Legal persons pay a donation of at least Euro 50, - per year. Contributions or donations are tax deductible (decision of the tax office Göttingen of 18th March 1962). On request, donation receipts will be issued.

The GPTS currently has 207 domestic and foreign members.
